A LITTLE AUTUMN CHARM 🍂🤎 Rusty chairs, weathered A LITTLE AUTUMN CHARM 🍂🤎 Rusty chairs, weathered wood, dried cornstalks, and pumpkins tucked here and there. Nothing fancy, just old treasures and simple fall touches that make this little corner of our property feel extra cozy this time of year. 👉Did you spot my Down Shiloh Road pumpkin? 🎃 I scarred the lettering right into the pumpkin while it was still growing, making it a little one-of-a-kind keepsake! You can find a DIY reel about this in my stories and saved highlights. 🤎 I also used the dominator_results bdcbrands mulch glue I shared in my recent reel around the shed to help keep all that mulch in place when the wind and weather roll through. So far, so good! TURNS OUT, THIS WAS THE FINISHING TOUCH MY LITTLE TURNS OUT, THIS WAS THE FINISHING TOUCH MY LITTLE SHED NEEDED. 🍂 I thought my little shed was already pretty cute, but something about this area still felt unfinished. 🤎 #ad We started by laying down cardboard and adding fresh mulch, and I couldn’t believe how much of a difference it made! Because the weather can get pretty rough out here, I wanted to help keep all that new mulch right where we put it. Josh sprayed DOMINATOR® XL Mulch Anchor over the area, and after letting it fully set for 24 hours, I got to do my favorite part—decorate! 🍂 Even with me walking around, moving things and adding all of my fall touches, the mulch stayed put. And I love knowing it has a little extra protection from our wind and weather, too. I LOVE FINDING NEW WAYS TO GIVE OLD PIECES ANOTHER I LOVE FINDING NEW WAYS TO GIVE OLD PIECES ANOTHER LIFE. 🙌#ad We found this weathered chair back in the barn, added a couple of wooden pegs to turn it into a little wall rack, and I knew it needed one more detail. 🤗 After seeing the Liquitex Mediums display at michaelsstores, I decided to try something a little different. I used liquitexofficial Modeling Paste with a barn star stencil to create a raised design, then painted it in warm fall colors. 🍂 I love how the Modeling Paste added texture and dimension while still letting all that beautiful weathered wood show through. It was such a fun and easy way to give an old forgotten piece a new purpose, and I love how perfectly it fits in with my primitive folk-art style. #Liquitex #Michaels #diy #primitivestyle

I’ve had this ghost weather vane tucked into the pumpkin patch, and I think I love it even more now that fall has arrived. The rusty finish looks like it was made to be out here among the rambling gourd vines and pumpkins—and yes, those little ghosts really do turn with the wind! I’ve loved having this piece in our home and changing it up with the seasons. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE NASTY PARTS NOBODY WANTS TO S LET’S TALK ABOUT THE NASTY PARTS NOBODY WANTS TO SHOW. 🫣 Social media is really good at showing us the pretty “after.” The styled shelves, the cozy corner, the old piece looking like it was always meant to be there. What you don’t always see is the grease, dirt, bugs, mystery gunk, damaged wood, hours of sanding… and that moment when you look at your husband and wonder if maybe this was a terrible idea. 😂 This old cabinet sat in our garage for more than 25 years before we finally brought it back to life. And trust me—the pretty little hutch you see now did not start out pretty. 🤢 But I think there’s something worth showing in the messy middle too. Old houses, old furniture and old gardens aren't always charming. Sometimes they're downright nasty. 😅 And maybe that’s part of why I love them. You get to see what a little work, imagination and willingness to get dirty can uncover. 😍 👉So here’s your reminder: DON’T COMPARE YOUR MESSY MIDDLE TO SOMEBODY ELSE’S FINISHED PHOTO. Part 2 OF THE SCARRED PUMPKIN 🎃🍂 Do you remember Part 2 OF THE SCARRED PUMPKIN 🎃🍂 Do you remember this project??? I promised to share PART # 2!!! At the end of summer, while this pumpkin was still growing, I used a barn quilt stencil to scar a design into it…and I’ve been waiting ever since to see how it would turn out! 🤗 Now it’s finally off the vine and has found its place on our fall front porch. 🤎 I absolutely love how the design aged and became part of the pumpkin as it grew. (I’ll reshare the reel showing how I made it in my stories!) I surrounded it with pumpkins, the prettiest Candy Corn mums and some of my favorite old things. And did you spot that sweet little concrete squirrel? 🐿️ He came in one of my w.s.mercantile Home Decor Subscription Boxes.
