Hi,Everybody!  I’m Jenn! I’m the crazy chicken lady behind Down Shiloh Road. Please take my *possibly dirty* hand as I turn “junk” into treasures, plant lots of flowers, feed some animals, make that recipe and/or make the most of my tiny home! And, if we get messy along the way, a little dirt don’t hurt;)

THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS I COULD SPEND $171 ON… THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS I COULD SPEND
 $171 ON… 😂🤎

And if you know me, an antique store is probably pretty high on that list.

But the older I get, the more I realize that one of the best things I can invest in is my own health.

That’s why I wanted to share lifelinescreening and their OneLife annual membership with you.

OneLife is designed to make preventive health something you stay on top of year after year, instead of something you do once and forget about. It includes Life Line Screening’s standard stroke and heart disease risk screenings, plus additional health screenings throughout the year.

And one thing that really stood out to me is the value — OneLife is the same price as their standard screening package, but you get more screenings included.

The screenings are simple and non-invasive, and they can help identify certain health risks before there are obvious symptoms. Some of these screenings also aren’t necessarily part of a routine doctor’s visit, which is another reason I like the idea of being proactive.

Because ultimately, I want as many healthy years as possible to keep doing all the things I love… including wandering antique stores looking for treasures. 😂🤎

The OneLife membership is $186, and with my code OLcottage15, you’ll save $15, bringing it to $171.

Use code OLcottage15 at LifeLineScreening.com.

IT'S "PUT A PUMPKIN ON IT" SEASON!! 😅🙌 And appare IT'S "PUT A PUMPKIN ON IT" SEASON!! 😅🙌

And apparently, fill a pumpkin season too. 😂🍂

These pumpkin vessels from antiquefarmhouse are such fun pieces because there are SO many ways you could style them. 🤎🙌

I filled mine with some of my favorite fall things — bittersweet and dried Indian corn — but I can already picture them filled with dried gourds, wheat, hydrangeas, wooden spoons, rolling pins, old fabric scraps… you could change them up all season long. 🤎🤗

Of course, I had to mix them in with an old bread board and a few collected things because around here, new pieces always seem to find their way in among the old. 🤎

Okay, now I want to hear your ideas…

What would YOU fill these pumpkins with? 🎃

FALL NESTING… 🍂 I’ve been a little quiet around h FALL NESTING… 🍂

I’ve been a little quiet around here this past week. Between celebrating my birthday yesterday, an unexpected death in our family, and pulling out all the fall things, I ended up taking a little time away.

I’ve realized that when I’m really decorating, I almost have to step away from social media for a bit and just concentrate on creating.

Fall is slowly making its way around the house… and I’ve managed to squeeze in a little antique shopping too. 😉
I found some really good things that I can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned ...I'll share later this week.

Have you started Fall decor yet??

EVER SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL, I KNEW …...that I EVER SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL, I KNEW
…...that I wanted to be retired. 😂

Only 4 more years, but who's counting? 🙋‍♀️

Turns out I'm much better suited for puttering around the garden than city politics anyway. 🌿😂

PUMPKIN SCARRING!! 🎃 I’ve wanted to try this for PUMPKIN SCARRING!! 🎃

I’ve wanted to try this for YEARS, and with my current barn quilt obsession, I knew exactly what I wanted to put on mine. 🤎

Pumpkin scarring is actually pretty simple. While the pumpkin is still young and growing, lightly scratch your design through the outer skin — being careful not to cut too deeply into the pumpkin.

I used a stencil for my barn quilt pattern, but you could do this with letters, initials, simple drawings or just about any design you can trace.

As the pumpkin continues to grow, those little scratches begin to heal and form a raised, corky scar — leaving your design right there on the pumpkin.

Now comes the hardest part… waiting. 😂

I’ll keep sharing this one as it grows so we can see how the barn quilt changes over the next few weeks!

🎃 SAVE this one if you have pumpkins growing and want to give it a try!

I MADE EXTRAS. 🌻🌻🌻 Apparently I forgot one little I MADE EXTRAS. 🌻🌻🌻

Apparently I forgot one little detail when I shared these…Making extras and then forgetting to tell anyone about them is not the best sales strategy. 😂

I made a few extra sunflower barn quilts when I was working on mine…and then promptly forgot to mention that they were available.

I’ve been using mine with the sunflowers I’m drying from the garden, and I just love this little late-summer combination. There’s something about those droopy, drying sunflower heads that I think is every bit as pretty as when they were blooming. 🌻

You can watch a Reel of me making these IN MY STORIES!!

👉I do have a few extras available if anyone would like one! Just send me a message. 🤎

CAN WE HIT THE PAUSE BUTTON??? 🌻🤗 That little pau CAN WE HIT THE PAUSE BUTTON??? 🌻🤗

That little pause at the end of summer…just before autumn begins. 🌻🍂

I made a few quick and simple updates to the hutch—nothing too much since it won’t be long before I’m pulling out all of the fall things. 😁 For now, I’m enjoying these last little touches of summer around the farmhouse.
And how sweet are these sunflower pillows from my friend Joy over at handsewnbyjoy? 🌻 (She makes the cutest, most detailed, pillows I've ever seen!!) They were just what this little corner needed to carry it through these last summer days before the pumpkins start making their way in. 🤎

Are you still holding onto summer, or are you already thinking about fall? 🍂🌻

🍀Good luck to all of the 127 Yard Sale Shoppers this weekend!!! I won't be going this time. I will, however, be hitting up a flea market tomorrow so STAY TUNED!!

BEAUTY & SUPPORT 🌼 There are little moments in th BEAUTY & SUPPORT 🌼

There are little moments in the garden that remind me to slow down... today it was a hummingbird stopping by while I was filming.

I've been using the vego_garden plant support obelisks throughout my flower garden, and I love how they add structure without taking away from the beauty of the blooms.

They're sturdy, simple to install, and help support everything from climbing vines to tall flowers that need a little extra encouragement.

One of my favorite things about gardening is finding pieces that are both practical and beautiful... and these have quickly become one of those pieces. 🤗

And this won't be the last time you see these obelisks .... I have a fun fall decorating idea planned for them that I can't wait to share. 🌻

👉If you'd like to see the Vego Garden Plant Supports I'm using, you can find them through the link in my bio. Be sure to use my DISCOUNT CODE to save on your order:
