THERE'S MORE UPSTAIRS......šŸ¤— You know how every a THERE'S MORE UPSTAIRS......šŸ¤—

You know how every antique mall says, ā€œThere’s more upstairsā€? Well… apparently now I’m part of "the more upstairs". 🤣

After years of dragging vintage finds home, setting up at occasional markets, and saying ā€œI really don't need another projectā€ā€¦ Down Shiloh Road is getting a little antique booth roseblockantiques in Harrisburg, Illinois.

Sometimes the right opportunity shows up at the right time. And apparently that means I've spent the last two days digging through hot storage buildings in 100° weather to drag home treasures. 🄵

I'll be taking you along while Josh and I turn an empty little upstairs 1/2 booth space into something that feels like Down Shiloh Road — old wood, primitive pieces, baskets, garden finds, handmade things and whatever else I can't leave behind.šŸ¤—

There really is more upstairs. šŸ¤Ž

šŸ‘‰ Tell me what you would LOVE to see in the booth??

SOMETIMES FALL IS A COLOR.... NOT A PUMPKIN šŸ‚ Fal SOMETIMES FALL IS A COLOR.... NOT A PUMPKIN šŸ‚

Fall decorating doesn’t always have to mean adding fall decor. šŸ¤Ž

Sometimes I think we get so caught up in bringing out the pumpkins and leaves that we forget one of the easiest ways to change a room for the season is simply through color.😁

This little peg rack stays here all year. But for fall, I pulled together things I already had in warm shades of cream, brown, faded mustard and natural linen. I added a few dried stems, and suddenly the whole corner felt like autumn—without adding a single pumpkin. I did however add that old clothespin holder that I just bought recently!! Remember that find!? šŸ˜šŸ™Œ

I LOVE THAT because.......sometimes decorating REALLY can be that SIMPLE!!!šŸ¤—

Look around your house for the things that already give you a place to display something—a peg rack, hooks, a chair, an open shelf, a basket—and instead of asking ā€œWhat fall decor can I put here?ā€ try asking:
ā€œWhat colors would make this feel like fall?ā€ šŸ¤”

Sometimes that little shift is all it takes. šŸ¤Ž

A LITTLE AUTUMN GATHERED AROUND THE TABLE. šŸ‚ Some A LITTLE AUTUMN GATHERED AROUND THE TABLE. šŸ‚

Sometimes it really is the simplest changes that make a space feel ready for a new season.

I styled these two beautiful pumpkins from Antique Farmhouse with a few things I already had — dried corn, bittersweet, an old breadboard and wooden butter paddle — for an easy little fall centerpiece.

You can find both pumpkins featured today in Antique Farmhouse’s CORNFIELDS & CANDLELIGHT event. šŸ¤Ž

I love fall decorating that doesn’t have to be complicated… just a few warm, collected touches can completely change a space. šŸ¤—

BTW - the texture on these pumpkins is chef's kiss!!! 🤌

JUST A FEW OLD KEEPSAKES… šŸ¤Ž I think that might be JUST A FEW OLD KEEPSAKES… šŸ¤Ž

I think that might be my favorite way to decorate.
An old stack of stools. A worn basket. Dried gourds saved from another season. Old dishes, rusty lanterns, pieces picked up here and there—and somehow they all find their way together. šŸ¤—

I added just a few touches of fall to this old cabinet, including the beautiful dried oat bundles and wispy oat wreath from Antique Farmhouse, and I love how they look mixed in with all of my old things.šŸ˜

Nothing too perfect. Nothing too new. Just layers of texture, warm autumn color and pieces that look like they have a story to tell. šŸ‚

Because around here, the things that have been around awhile usually end up being my favorites. šŸ¤Ž

THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS I COULD SPEND $171 ON… THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS I COULD SPEND
 $171 ON… šŸ˜‚šŸ¤Ž

And if you know me, an antique store is probably pretty high on that list.

But the older I get, the more I realize that one of the best things I can invest in is my own health.

That’s why I wanted to share lifelinescreening and theirĀ OneLife annual membershipĀ with you.

OneLife is designed to make preventive health something you stay on top of year after year, instead of something you do once and forget about. It includes Life Line Screening’s standard stroke and heart disease risk screenings, plus additional health screenings throughout the year.

And one thing that really stood out to me is the value — OneLife is the same price as their standard screening package, but you get more screenings included.

The screenings are simple and non-invasive, and they can help identify certain health risks before there are obvious symptoms. Some of these screenings also aren’t necessarily part of a routine doctor’s visit, which is another reason I like the idea of being proactive.

Because ultimately, I want as many healthy years as possible to keep doing all the things I love… including wandering antique stores looking for treasures. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤Ž

The OneLife membership isĀ $186, and with my codeĀ OLcottage15, you’ll save $15, bringing it toĀ $171.

Use codeĀ OLcottage15Ā at LifeLineScreening.com.

IT'S "PUT A PUMPKIN ON IT" SEASON!! šŸ˜…šŸ™Œ And appare IT'S "PUT A PUMPKIN ON IT" SEASON!! šŸ˜…šŸ™Œ

And apparently, fill a pumpkin season too. šŸ˜‚šŸ‚

These pumpkin vessels from antiquefarmhouse are such fun pieces because there are SO many ways you could style them. šŸ¤ŽšŸ™Œ

I filled mine with some of my favorite fall things — bittersweet and dried Indian corn — but I can already picture them filled with dried gourds, wheat, hydrangeas, wooden spoons, rolling pins, old fabric scraps… you could change them up all season long. šŸ¤ŽšŸ¤—

Of course, I had to mix them in with an old bread board and a few collected things because around here, new pieces always seem to find their way in among the old. šŸ¤Ž

Okay, now I want to hear your ideas…

What would YOU fill these pumpkins with? šŸŽƒ

FALL NESTING… šŸ‚ I’ve been a little quiet around h FALL NESTING… šŸ‚

I’ve been a little quiet around here this past week. Between celebrating my birthday yesterday, an unexpected death in our family, and pulling out all the fall things, I ended up taking a little time away.

I’ve realized that when I’m really decorating, I almost have to step away from social media for a bit and just concentrate on creating.

Fall is slowly making its way around the house… and I’ve managed to squeeze in a little antique shopping too. šŸ˜‰
I found some really good things that I can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned ...I'll share later this week.

Have you started Fall decor yet??

PUMPKIN SCARRING!! šŸŽƒ I’ve wanted to try this for PUMPKIN SCARRING!! šŸŽƒ

I’ve wanted to try this for YEARS, and with my current barn quilt obsession, I knew exactly what I wanted to put on mine. šŸ¤Ž

Pumpkin scarring is actually pretty simple. While the pumpkin is still young and growing, lightly scratch your design through the outer skin — being careful not to cut too deeply into the pumpkin.

I used a stencil for my barn quilt pattern, but you could do this with letters, initials, simple drawings or just about any design you can trace.

As the pumpkin continues to grow, those little scratches begin to heal and form a raised, corky scar — leaving your design right there on the pumpkin.

Now comes the hardest part… waiting. šŸ˜‚

I’ll keep sharing this one as it grows so we can see how the barn quilt changes over the next few weeks!

šŸŽƒ SAVE this one if you have pumpkins growing and want to give it a try!
