Winter decorating • After Christmas•

I have a love hate relationship with the days following Christmas.

Antlers, greenery and pinecones give any collection a winter feel.

I love the feeling that life is sort of on hold until after the New Year. Everyone is off work for the holidays, and you’re eating leftovers, not yet worried about a new diet plan. The tree is still up because it’s perfectly acceptable until after the New Year.

Snow flake signs and black plaid are perfect for winter!!

But what happens AFTER that!!! The thought of redecorating your home again can just be exhausting. But, it doesn’t have to be!! Really! All you need to do is simplify.

The birdhouse on top of the hutch is covered in snow.

Decorating for Winter in 10 Easy Steps

  • Take down the red!! If you use red in your Christmas decor, try removing that. It gives the space an entirely new look. I even pull the little red berry stems out of my faux greenery. You can always just pop them back on next year.
  • Take down the tree!!
  • Missing the tree!? Keep the greenery and the twinkle lights up!! January doesn’t have to be depressing.
  • Use throw blankets and pillows EVERYWHERE! Instant cozy vibes!
  • You can’t go wrong with a lantern or candle. The candles give off a warm cozy glow.
  • Add in some natural elements like pinecones and deer antlers and sheds. They add visual interest to any space.
  • Still want to use plaid!? Try using black and white plaid or buffalo print!! You can use a pillow, tea towel or throw!!
  • Get those house plants out!! The feeling of some fresh plants will keep the winter blues away!!
  • Are you an outdoorsy type!? It’s perfectly acceptable to use birdhouses and nests in your winter decor. Just add winter greens around them! You can also decorate with the nests and birdhouses that are covered in snow!!
  • Embrace winter with fun winter sayings, snowflake motifs, and ice skates!!
Woods, whites, and greens are perfect winter decor!!

Use a peg rack as a cozy space to hang quilts for guests to grab.

And that is 10 easy steps to decorate for winter! They really are that simple. As we all end a very stressful year, don’t let this last season’s decorations stress you out! Enjoy your space. Keep it cozy. And hopefully, we can step into a 2021 that is just as simple.
